friday flowers: insane orchids

Did you know that orchids were once considered a rich person's plant because they were so difficult to propagate?

After three weeks in South Africa, I was panicking about what might have happened to the buds I had left behind - but look what I came home to. I was going to share them with you last week, but Chelsea was on, and right now, I am pretty confident I could enter next year - with my Ikea orchids!
Each cost less than a fiver & are all about a year old, so this is their second cycle of flowers - twice as amazing as the first. I counted 49 blooms this morning - on four plants.

And of them all...this little one is particularly sweet, because it cost 25p from the Ikea bargain bin. It's taken six months of water once a week and threats to perform or go in the bin, and now look:
I wanted to live in a light, bright, place, and these orchids would seem to indicate that I nailed that...
I feel very rich indeed!

have a happy weekend.

I love orchids, and I've actually had quite a few re-bloom on me.

They give such great bang for buck, don't they? I'm excited - today's Friday, that means tomorrow is Sexy Space Saturday over at yours! :)

Did you cut them back once they had finished flowering the first time round? I did, as I had researched but mine didn't last beyond the first blooms, which was sad really. Way to go on yours xx
