Keep Calm and So Over It

Back in 2006 or so, I remember occasionally seeing Keep Calm and Carry On posters in various Apartment Therapy house tours - it used to make smile wryly, and I thought they were quite cute.

And then they were in more and more house tours - as was the Saarinen Tulip table. Eventually I had to give up Apartment Therapy before it ruined the Saarinen for me - since it is a favourite and I was feeling like I was the only person on the planet who didn't have one.

Fast forward five years and I'm over keeping calm, which is now EVERYWHERE,not just on cliched walls.

Stupid.

Stupider.

Stupidest.
(And its the wrong font. Double fail)

I'm definitely over all the 'cutesy' copies and rewrites,
some of which don't even make sense.

I'm not even saying this because if I had been earlier to the party selling these posters I could have afforded a Saarinen table ten times over by now.

There are two exceptions:
the Queen can provide a Royal pardon for this one,
which does make me laugh

and this photo was the epitome of aussie resilience during last year's Brisbane floods:

Are you all full of Keeping Calm too by now?! I bet!

But then I came across this story, which is *fascinating*

I *LOVE* Stories like this.

It has all my favourite ingredients:
  • The story behind stuff we see all the time
  • Trademark law (I have a slight obsession with trademark law, a hangover from my office life)
  • A baddie
  • the F word which always makes me laugh
  • And a lovely life lesson in the last paragraph...
